How Site Selectors Work with Economic Developers and IPAs

Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) and Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) provide invaluable support to site location consultants and, by extension, their clients. Critical assistance furnished by EDOs/IPAs includes maintaining a robust website, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), arranging consultant field visits, sharing knowledge about an area’s resources for pertinent site selection projects and engaging in efforts to continuously improve an area’s capability to sustain the operational needs of varied businesses. In effect, site selection consultants and EDOs/IPAs engage in a collaborative effort to ensure optimal location solutions for corporate clients.

One mission of the Site Selectors Guild is to foster the vital relationships between economic developers and site selection consultants through sharing of valuable information and feedback from our work with corporate clients in order to help make regions and communities more competitive and successful. SSG does this through the following service and event offerings:

Annual Conference

Each year, the Site Selectors Guild holds its marquee Annual Conference event, in which all SSG members are in attendance.  The cornerstone of the SSG Annual Conference is knowledge sharing, interactive exchanges of ideas and networking between the SSG members and EDOs from across the U.S. and IPAs from around the world.  Guild members plan the content, including the engagement of expert outside speakers, for the entire conference, and serve on panels and participate in breakout sessions with the EDO/IPA community for the purpose of sharing insights and fostering discussion.

At the Annual Conference, the Guild’s Excellence in Economic Development and Excellence in International Investment Promotion awards are also presented to outstanding EDOs and IPAs who have gone above and beyond in their work. Guild members nominate organizations for these prestigious annual awards.

The 2018 Annual Conference will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, March 19-21, 2018. Registration will open on October 4, 2017 at 12:00 PM CST / 1:00 PM EST. For more information, visit our events website.

Fall Forum

The SSG Fall Forum is a condensed, intimate conference with even more limited attendance at approximately half the size of the Annual Conference.  Similar to the Annual Conference, knowledge sharing, discussion panels, breakout sessions, and networking are the hallmark of the Fall Forum. Advisory Forums
