Andreas’ main area of expertise is foreign direct investment (FDI) and he has assisted numerous companies to select international locations and secure incentives for new manufacturing plants, shared service centers, R&D centers, headquarters and other types of corporate facilities.

He has worked with a wide variety of clients from different parts of the world, including publicly-listed companies, family-owned enterprises as well as venture capital and private equity-owned firms.
Andreas has expertise in international projects, where his international background and experience enable him to navigate through the pitfalls of evaluating locations and negotiating with stakeholders in different countries. He has a strong understanding of different cultures and regulatory systems around the world and knows what it takes to get deals done for his clients. At the same time, he is also adept at identifying risks and understanding how these can impact his clients’ international projects.
Other areas of expertise that have contributed to Andreas’s successful track record include: securing essential data through primary research, managing complex projects within a strict timeframe, dealing with external stakeholders, generating internal consensus, organizing and leading thorough site visit programs and negotiating complex incentives agreements that allow clients to achieve maximum benefits while retaining flexibility.
Past Employment: Andreas started his site selection career in 1996 with KPMG, where he created a specialized cross border investment practice (Global Location & Expansion Services) and coordinated a global network of location advisory consultants. After 8 years with KPMG in the USA (Washington DC and New York), he moved to Germany to build a market-leading location advisory group for KPMG in Europe while continuing to coordinate the firm’s global FDI advisory activities.
In 2009, Andreas founded Terrain, a specialized location advisory consulting firm, which grew quickly to become one of the most respected consulting firms in the field of foreign direct investment. Andreas sold Terrain to Conway Data Inc. in April 2013 and continued to run the company as Managing Director until January 2017. He is currently subject to a non-compete agreement until the end of August 2017.

Personal: Andreas has lived in numerous countries throughout his life and is now based in Berlin, Germany, where he lives with his wife and two children.
