Andy Shapiro has had an extensive career as a planner, developer and site selector and now heads BLS & Company’s location advisory and economic development services practices. He joined the firm in 2001, having spent over a decade with Fantus Consulting, Moran Stahl & Boyer and Deloitte & Touche. His clients comprise the top-tier of U.S. companies and include The Bank of New York – Mellon, Bloomberg, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Capital One Financial, Exxon-Mobil, Fidelity Investments, Genentech, QVC, UPS and Verizon, among many others. Andy also was a Marketing Manager with the Fairfax County (VA) Economic Development Authority and has applied his knowledge and that experience to various strategy engagements that he has managed on behalf of investment promotion agencies including Choose New Jersey, The North Carolina Biotechnology Center, The Tampa-Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, the Pitt County (NC) Development Commission and the Jacksonville-Cornerstone Partnership.
Andy received a B.A. and an M.S. in Urban Planning from The George Washington University. He is a founding member of the Site Selectors Guild, a member of CoreNet Global and also of the International Economic Development Council. A frequent speaker on site selection and economic development topics, Andy also serves on the editorial board of Area Development Magazine.
