Deloitte EMEA Service Leader Global Location Strategies
Elias van Herwaarden heads up Deloitte’s Global Location Strategies, the firm’s EMEA Centre of Excellence for corporate site selection and Foreign Direct Investment services. He joined Deloitte from Andersen where he led a similar practice. As a Vice- Consul for the Dutch Government between 1998 and 2000, he was responsible for the US Midwest operations of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency. Through the 1990s he worked with Price Waterhouse – Plant Location International.
Elias has 25 years’ experience in location consulting and assisted over 500 clients with international site selection, footprint optimization and corporate restructuring. He conducted fieldwork in 44 countries and over 250 cities around the globe.
Elias has spoken and led seminars on topics pertaining to manufacturing, high-tech and customer service locations, global location strategy, outsourcing, offshoring, Central Europe, Russia, Asia, future trends and Foreign Direct Investment Promotion.
He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Belgian Association of Real Estate Professionals and of the Advisory Board of The Summit Circuit, a specialty organization that provides independent information and strategic vision to the contact center community.
For the last 10 years, he has been part of Deloitte’s Shared Services Leadership team. He lectures on International Business Strategy, at KU Leuven University and Brussels University College.
