Site Selectors Converge on Seattle for 2017 Fall Forum

SEATTLE — The Site Selectors Guild (SSG), the association of the world’s leading corporate location advisors, will hold its 2017 Fall Forum in Seattle, WA from September 25-27, 2017. This conference will bring economic developers and site selection consultants from around the globe to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The Washington State Department of Commerce is the host for the 2017 Fall Forum.

“Our department has worked diligently to secure the Site Selectors Guild Fall Forum in Seattle,” said Allison Clark, managing director for business development at the Washington State Department of Commerce. “This conference is a great opportunity for site selectors and forum participants to see why Washington is a great place to do business.”

Governor Jay Inslee will open the conference by welcoming guests to Washington. The goal of the Fall Forum is knowledge sharing and an interactive exchange of ideas through discussion panels, breakout sessions and networking. Registration is limited to 175 economic development professionals; in addition, 23 Site Selectors Guild members will attend the event.

Among conference activities, Guild members will take tours of the city, meet with local businesses and sample Seattle food and beverages.

“Our Fall Forum is an excellent opportunity for our members to network with economic developers from Washington and across the country,” said Site Selectors Guild board chair Mark Williams. “In addition, our conference is a great venue for economic development professionals and site selectors to learn from one another.”

The breakout session and general session themes for this event include the site selection process and best economic development practices for manufacturing and distribution projects, project case studies, incentives best practices, and workforce considerations in location decision making.  Attendees will also hear from corporate executives on critical factors that impact their company’s location decisions today.

Professional site selectors often serve as a barometer for the overall economy – when companies are growing and expanding, they turn to site selectors for location advisory assistance. If projects slow down or stop coming in to site selectors, it is an early indicator that business may be headed for a downturn.
