The Site Selectors Guild, the only association of the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants, announced five recipients of the Robert M. Ady Professional Scholarship Program. The scholarship is awarded to deserving economic development professionals at organizations with limited financial resources. Recipients of the 2023 scholarship are:
- Zach Gilmore, Vice President of Business Development, Jackson County Economic Development Committee (Jackson County, Florida)
- Sarah Hoefgen, Executive Director, El Dorado, Inc. (El Dorado, Kansas)
- Pamela Lopez-Fettes, Executive Director, Growth Dimensions Economic Development (Belvidere and Boone County, Illinois)
- Stewart McGregor, Executive Director, Kaufman Economic Development Corporation (Kaufman, Texas)
- April Potter, Vice President of Economic Development, Research and Communications, Opportunity Stanislaus (Stanislaus County, California)
The scholarship provides complimentary registration to the Guild’s Annual Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas, from March 29-31, 2023. The Annual Conference is set to be attended by over 450 economic development professionals and more than 60 of the top site selection consultants in the world. The conference provides tremendous educational, professional development and networking opportunities for attending economic developers.
The Annual Conference Committee evaluated scholarship applications based on financial need, accomplishments in economic development and a demonstrated desire to engage with site selection professionals. Candidates from communities typically underrepresented in economic development received priority.
“The five scholarships awards will enable this impressive group of economic development professionals to tap into the knowledge sharing and relationship building that takes place at the Site Selectors Guild Annual Conference,” said Gregg Wassmansdorf, Site Selectors Guild board chair and senior managing director, global consulting at Newmark. “We look forward to seeing the scholarship awardees in San Antonio.”
The scholarship program is named after Robert M. Ady, founder of the Site Selectors Guild and long-time champion of both economic development and corporate site selection. Ady began his career at Fantus Consulting, a progenitor of the site selection profession. As he rose through the ranks and eventually started his own consulting firms, Ady was credited for turning site selection into a valued and influential profession. Ady passed in 2012. The Guild created the scholarship program to honor Ady’s vision for a diverse and inclusive organization.
