Site Selectors Guild Announces New Leadership

Charlie Jewell Named Managing Director, New Board Elected

July 29, 2021 – The Site Selectors Guild, the only association of the world’s foremost professional site selection consultants, has announced Charlie Jewell as its new managing director. Jewell succeeds Rick Weddle, who retired in June 2021.

Jewell brings more than 15 years of economic development and government experience to the role, most recently as the executive director of Onward NRV, a public-private regional economic development organization serving Virginia’s New River Valley. Over the past six years he led the organization’s 31- person board through two strategic planning processes that resulted in significant organizational growth, strong stakeholder engagement, and a focused regional economic development strategy that has supported the creation of 2,139 jobs and $450 million in capital investment. Prior to that, Jewell worked in a variety of government capacities including business attraction and community marketing in Montgomery County, Virginia.

“We are delighted for Charlie to join the Site Selectors Guild and advance the association as a strategic partner to economic development organizations and a thought leader in the site selection industry,” said Chris Lloyd, senior vice present and director of infrastructure and economic development at McGuireWoods Consulting and newly appointed board chair of the Site Selectors Guild. “Charlie’s deep industry knowledge, program implementation skills, and expertise in stakeholder engagement are exactly what the Guild needs.”

Lloyd’s appointment as board chair of the Site Selectors Guild was announced at the Guild’s Annual Conference in Orlando in June 2021.

In addition to Lloyd’s appointment, the following board elections were also announced:

  • Gregg Wassmansdorf, senior managing director of consulting at Newmark, will serve as vice chair
  • Larry Gigerich, executive managing director at Ginovus, will serve as treasurer
  • Michelle Comerford, industrial and supply chain practice lead at Biggins Lacy Shapiro & Company, will serve as secretary
  • Dennis Donovan, principal at Wadley Donovan Gutshaw Consulting, will continue to serve as a board member
  • Seth Martindale, Senior Managing Director at CBRE, will join the board
  • Phil Schneider, president at Schneider Strategy Consulting, will join the board

“The Guild is the leading voice in the site selection industry and I’m honored to work with the new leadership and overall Guild membership to advance this specialized profession,” said Jewell. “It is very exciting to join this team and I look forward to contributing to the Guild’s continued growth and success.”
