Site Selectors Guild Annual Conference Coming to Cincinnati

Event set to spotlight Cincinnati for top location consultants and economic developers

CINCINNATI — The Site Selectors Guild (SSG), the association of the world’s leading corporate location advisors, will hold its 2018 Annual Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio from March 19-21. This conference will bring economic developers and site selection consultants from around the globe to the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. The Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Cincinnati is hosting the 2018 Annual Conference.

“The Greater Cincinnati region is excited to welcome the Site Selectors Guild,” said Johnna Reeder, President & CEO of REDI Cincinnati. “Our region’s pride, growth and energy has won us national attention, and this is our opportunity to showcase to key economic development decisionmakers what makes us so unique. We are proud to share why this is where wit meets grit and our region is a place to be known.”

The goal of the SSG Annual Conference is knowledge sharing and an interactive exchange of ideas through discussion panels, breakout sessions and networking. Registration is limited to 350 economic development professionals; in addition, all 44 Site Selectors Guild members will attend the event.

Along with conference activities, Guild members will take tours of the city, meet with local businesses and sample Cincinnati food and beverages.

“Our Annual Conference is an excellent opportunity for our members to network with economic developers from Ohio and around the country,” said Site Selectors Guild board chair Mark Williams. “In addition, our conference is a great venue for economic development professionals and site selectors to learn from one another.”

The theme for this year’s conference is disruptive technologies. Conference sessions will be focusing on advancements that fuel economic growth, disrupt the status quo and impact the way people live and work. The breakout session topics will include labor and talent, economic incentives, transportation and logistics, energy, site development and infrastructure, site selection process and policy impacts and global topics.

The Site Selectors Guild will be presenting a $5,000 donation to the United Way of Greater Cincinnati as part of the 2018 Annual Conference. Williams noted, “It is important to SSG members to give back to the communities where we live and operate.”

About The Site Selectors Guild
The Site Selectors Guild (SSG) is a professional association comprised of the world’s leading corporate location advisory consultants to companies looking to build or expand. The mission of SSG is to advance the profession of corporate location strategy by raising awareness of the value professional location strategy and site selection services create for corporations. Professional site selectors often serve as a barometer for the overall economy – when companies are growing and expanding, they turn to site selectors for location advisory assistance. If projects slow down or stop coming in to site selectors, it is an early indicator that business may be headed for a downturn.

Guild members are also committed to sharing thought leadership and best practices, developing and nurturing relationships between SSG members, economic development organizations and corporate stakeholders, and contributing to policy discussions that affect location strategy and the future of the profession.

All members of SSG have been nominated and approved by their industry peers. As the first and only group of its kind, SSG brings together a dynamic network of site selectors from around the world, combining their talent and expertise to create an invaluable, top quality resource for both corporations seeking site selection assistance and economic development organizations.
